Account

Your account

No. You can plan a route, check breed restrictions and see your Phase 1 checklist without creating an account. Signing up (free) unlocks your own pet profile and Near Me. Premium (PetPlus) adds the full checklist, saved trips and more.
You can sign up right on this website at pettrip.app/near-me, or in the app — tap Sign Up from the checklist lock, the save icon, or Settings. Either way it's free, takes a few seconds, and no payment details are required. It's the same account either way, so you can switch between web and app freely.
On the sign-in screen — on pettrip.app/near-me or in the app — tap Forgot password? and enter your email. We'll send you a reset link.
On pettrip.app/near-me or in the app, go to your profile settings and choose Change Email. Enter the new address and confirm it via the verification link we send there — your account only switches to the new address once it's confirmed.
On pettrip.app/near-me or in the app, go to your profile settings and choose Delete Account, then confirm your password. Your personal data (email, profile, pet profiles) is permanently removed. Reviews, corrections and reports you've contributed stay in place to keep place data useful for other travelers, but are no longer linked to you.

Trip planning

Routes & checklists

Anyone traveling across Europe with a dog. Most of our users are everyday holidaymakers planning a two- or three-week trip — camper and caravan travelers, hikers heading to dog-friendly trails, beach-holiday travelers, families road-tripping with their dog, and first-time travelers crossing a border with a dog for the very first time. Get your route, breed check and checklist sorted in minutes, no matter how experienced you are with cross-border travel.

The same tools scale for longer journeys too: van-lifers, digital nomads, expats relocating permanently, seasonal long-term campers wintering abroad, and dog-sport travelers or breeders crossing borders for shows or transport can save and replan a new route every time they enter the next country — Premium (PetPlus) removes the limit on saved trips, so your checklist and entry requirements always match wherever you currently are.
Not yet — PetTrip currently plans driving routes only, whether you're in a car, camper or caravan. If your route happens to cross water, you'd still need to check the ferry or airline's own pet policy yourself for now. Covering ferry and flight travel properly is on our roadmap, since the rules differ a lot from driving (crate requirements, cabin vs. cargo, operator-specific restrictions).
Enter your origin and destination on the Plan tab, select your dog (or one of the example dogs), and view your route. PetTrip calculates the full route including transit countries, checks entry requirements, and builds a personalized checklist.
Green means standard requirements with no major hurdles. Yellow means extra preparation is needed — a transit country or specific documentation. Red means a complex entry, often involving breed restrictions or a non-EU destination. The route shows the worst-case color across every country you pass through, not just the destination.
The checklist has three phases by urgency. Phase 1 (immediate essentials) is visible to everyone, including anonymous users. Phase 2 (preparation) and Phase 3 (pack & go) require Premium (PetPlus).
Free (no account) gets you route planning, breed check and the Phase 1 checklist. Signing up (still free) adds your own pet profile and Near Me. Premium (PetPlus) adds the full Phase 2 & 3 checklist, saved trips, return trip info, the Law-Paws regional map, unlimited pet profiles, and Near Me extras — saving favorites and a wider search radius. See the full feature breakdown in "What is PetPlus (Premium)?" below.
Saving trips is a Premium (PetPlus) feature, with no limit on how many you can save. If you try to save a route you've already saved with the same dog, PetTrip asks you to confirm before creating a duplicate — useful if you're re-planning the same trip for a different date.

Near Me

Finding places

No. Every place type — vets, groomers, pet shops, dog parks, shelters, pet hotels and more — is visible and searchable without an account.
Contact details for most place types are a Premium (PetPlus) feature — the place itself is still shown, just tap to unlock the number or website. The one exception is vets and emergency vets: their contact info is always free for everyone.
That's a place added by a community member. Full details unlock once you sign up for a free account — no Premium (PetPlus) required. Vets and emergency vets are the exception here too: their details are always visible, even for community-submitted entries, even if you're not signed in.
In Near Me, use the add-place button to submit a new location, or open an existing place to suggest a correction or report a problem (wrong type, wrong address, closed, duplicate). Submissions are reviewed before going live.
You earn points for contributing to Near Me — adding a new place, writing a review, or submitting a correction or report. Points add up to badges like Local Hero, Road Warrior or Vet Whisperer, shown on your community profile.

Breeds & rules

Tap Missing breed? Request it in the breed search field. Some breeds go by different names or spellings, and ours might not have caught yours yet — let us know and we'll check and add it as an alias if that's the case. Your request is reviewed and usually added within a few days — you'll get an in-app notification once it's approved.
Some countries and regions have Breed-Specific Legislation (BSL) that restricts or bans certain breeds. PetTrip checks your breed against the rules of every country and region on your route and flags anything that applies — always confirm the current rules with the official authority of your destination before travelling.
Law-Paws is PetTrip's interactive breed-restriction map. Pick your dog, then tap any region on the map — or just type in a city or region, like Zurich — and get an instant, breed-specific breakdown of what applies there:
LeashMuzzleIn townNature areasLiability insuranceFines & penaltiesGeneral info
LeashWhether your dog needs to be on a leash in public, and any length limits or breed-specific exceptions.
MuzzleWhether a muzzle is required in public or on public transport — usually tied to breed-specific legislation (BSL) for listed breeds.
In townLeash and muzzle obligations are often stricter within town and city centers than out in the open countryside — Law-Paws flags where that's the case.
Nature areasExtra rules for forests, nature reserves and protected areas — including seasonal leash requirements during wildlife breeding season.
Liability insuranceWhether dog liability insurance ("Hundehaftpflicht") is mandatory in that region, and which dogs it applies to.
Fines & penaltiesWhat happens if requirements aren't met — typical fine ranges, and more serious consequences for banned or unregistered breeds.
General infoRegistration duties, tourist exceptions and other regional quirks worth knowing before you go.
Switzerland is already mapped canton by canton, and we're actively expanding this depth of detail across many more regions in Europe. A simplified public preview is also live at pettrip.app/map — the full regional breakdown above is a Premium (PetPlus) feature in the app.
Not currently — PetTrip is focused on dogs. Entry rules for dogs are far more complex (breed lists, muzzle and leash requirements, regional variation) than for other pets, and we'd rather do that well than spread thin across species.
We update country entry requirements and breed regulations regularly, and the app checks for rule updates automatically in the background. Regulations can still change at short notice — always confirm the latest requirements with the official veterinary or border authority of your destination before travelling.
